In 2002, I had one of those pivotal events in my life in which I made a decision to follow something I felt
compelled to do.  During a Lenten program at my church, a friend gave a presentation on some
humanitarian projects he had been involved within the country of Honduras and an organization he help to
start,
Osman Hope.  He ended the presentation by simply inviting others to join the next trip. A year later, I
was on a plane to Honduras for a week working on a
Habitat for Humanity Global Village build and visiting
the
Osman Hope shelters.  Needless to say, that trip truly changed my life and pointed me in a new
direction. Every year since that first trip, I continue to return to Honduras and repeat the commitment.
Some years it has been working on houses. Other years it has been working in children’s shelters.  The
work itself is sometimes very hard and other times not so hard.  But, regardless of the difficulty of the work,
I always come away blessed and humbled.

For those of us that feel lead to do mission work, regardless of one’s religious or political beliefs, there is a
true since of “calling”. Reaching out to those who are in need is basic to Judeo-Christian beliefs and what
God calls us all to do.  And thankfully, there are many people who make a commitment to journey to places
away from home and out of their comfort zone to minister and attend to those in need.  There is
camaraderie and since of community for those that travel together and work side-by-side to help those that
are in need.  The participants of mission trips come away changed and finding new purpose in life.  This
seems to be the common experience.

Because of the life changing experience I had and continue to have, I wanted to share that experience with
others.  So I quickly turned from a mission trip participant to a mission trip leader/organizer. What I learned
very quickly was that being a group leader and planning a mission trip required a great deal of research
and organization.  You not only had to worry about getting yourself from point A to point B, but there were
several others depending on you to lead the way and make the trip safe and rewarding.

As I began the process of organizing a mission trip, I learned that there was so much information about
travel and the logistics of the trip I needed to learn; not to mention the whole issue of deciding on where to
go and what we would do once we got there.  I also knew that there is a lot of information from others I
could use simply by going to the Internet.  However, a lot of the information was either hard to find and/or
just not that helpful. Because of this, I decided to build my own website as a way to provide others with the
tools and information they would need to do short term mission trips.  So I began with name “EZ Mission
Travel” and started building the website.

The goal of this website and the
resources you find here are to give the people doing mission work a base
from which to work and plan. The website continues to be a work in progress and I hope to keep it that
way.  Whether it be simply finding the
cheapest airfare, getting ideas for how to run a mission trip or finding
the
supplies needed for the trip; I hope it can be found here.  This website is a collection of information.
Most importantly though, this website is simply tool for you to use in discerning and accomplishing what
you feel called to do.  “...I tell you the truth, whatever you have done to the least of these, you have done
for me” (Matt 25:40)

Peace and blessings,
